Myanmar 5G rollout target: 2600 MHz and approximately 1,000 base stations
Myanmar plans to officially roll out 5G telecommunications services during the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2026–2027. At an August 18 coordination meeting, officials announced the allocation of the 2600 MHz spectrum band for rollout preparation and set a target for mobile operators to construct approximately 1,000 base stations within one year.
A dedicated 5G Task Force has been formed to oversee implementation and service quality following initial network trials. Ministry officials, telecom operators and vendors also discussed equipment import logistics, infrastructure readiness and rollout timelines to support a coordinated commercial launch.
What this means for RF and drive testing
For RF engineering teams, 2600 MHz / 2.6 GHz is the current Myanmar rollout frequency focus to prioritize for planning, field measurement, acceptance testing, coverage verification and optimization. Procurement should also consider future 700 MHz low-band requirements and 3.5 GHz C-band / 5G n78 testing so compatible equipment can remain useful as network requirements expand.
RFTools Myanmar equipment guidance: the current drive-test phone catalog is positioned for modern LTE/5G workflows covering the current and future planning frequencies of 2600 MHz, 700 MHz and 3.5 GHz C-band / n78, subject to exact regional model, SKU and software compatibility verification before procurement.
